We started using RANGE CAMPS in 1986 in our Fly Fishing Guide Business in Canada and Alaska. Within months we saw that improvements could be made to the old Sheep Camp that would add to its durability, comfort, and safety. From that time to now we have made significant structural improvements - improvements that we learned moving drilling rigs, housing units, and heavy equipment with our helicopters. Our shipbuilding business also taught us how to build things that last and provide safe harbor in all kinds of weather. We have now brought these years of knowledge into the manufacturing of EXPEDITION RANGE CAMPS LLC.

Using plans that have been around since the late 1800’s coupled with many years of our own experience, EXPEDITION RANGE CAMPS, LLC is manufacturing a modern version of the old “Camp Wagon- Sheep Wagon or Sheep Camp.” The new RANGE CAMPS are designed to provide shelter, warmth, sleeping accommodations for up to four, security, full propane equipped kitchen, storage for your gear, wood burning stove, solar energy and off-road mobility. RANGE CAMPS are ideal for the hunter, fisherman, forester, geologist, biologist, wildlife manager, adventurer, photographer, or individuals whose life takes them into the remote areas of North America where the roads end and real adventure begins.

Used by Cattle and Sheep Ranchers for over a century, in all kinds of mountain weather, these Camps are ideal for the sportsman. The RANGE CAMP will go anywhere your four wheel drive vehicle can go, following along like a faithful dog, running in the tracks of the tow vehicle. Clearance over rocks that would destroy a conventional trailer is assured on the wagon frame models by the fore-and-aft, four-wheel stance, rugged steel frame and the extended- articulated tongue. On the tandem axle models the axles are configured in the “deck-over” mode to provide that same “rock clearing” clearance that is needed in the back country. Both RANGE CAMP configurations can travel at highway speeds when moving from one location to another on paved roads. The basic difference between the two different axle configurations is the ability to “back-up” the camp; the tandem axle being far easier.

We also build a companion trailer for the RANGE CAMPS that can carry two ATV’s, extra water and fuel, two canoes or kayaks, a raft, shower/toilet facilities, or materials for your remote area project, it can be converted into a trailer/tent that would sleep four extra people. These companion trailers are built to the same frame specifications as our RANGE CAMPS, complete with running lights, brakes, five thousand pound axles, ten thousand pound rated hitch and locking tool box, VIN number and Title. Our RANGE CAMPS are wired with a 7-point plug on the rear next to the rear-facing receiver hitch to provide for towing both trailers simultaneously. We call this companion trailer the “SUPPLY WAGON”.

Our construction methods were learned in the Ship Yards where we started out building and operating high speed patrol and crew boats as well as research vessels and custom yachts. Our ships have operated worldwide, from the Tasman Sea to the North Sea. During those years we also provided Helicopters in support of Remote Drilling operations from Alaska to Argentina. Selling our companies and retiring from the Shipping and Helicopter businesses in 1986 we began using Range Camps in our pursuit of our hobbies of Hunting, Fly Fishing and Wildlife Photography in Wyoming, Alaska, other Western States and Canada.

We are now bringing this lifetime of experience to building the finest piece of Off-road Camping equipment on the market. There is still plenty of land to be explored in the United States and Canada, much of which is laced with logging roads and dirt tracks that lead to mystic mountain lakes and streams of icy water, where wildlife from the Barren Land Grizzly in the Yukon to the Mountain Goat in Montana, can be seen and photographed. You just need a Camp Trailer that will survive the trip and provide you a Weatherhaven when you get there.

Our Range Camps are not the only mobile way to live in the wild, there is the Earth Roamer, Maximog, Unicat and the Action Mobil, but who has a quarter to a half million dollars to spend. Check out the all of the other guys and be sure to compare the differences between OUR RANGE CAMPS vs. THEIR SHEEP CAMPS, you will see how knowledge gained in other fields of remote area operations has led us to a better built camp.

We are active outdoorsmen; you may have seen EXPEDITION RANGE CAMPS, LLC in some of the Conservation Organizations literature like the National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Costal Conservation Association, Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, Safari Club International, Rock Mountain Sheep Foundation, National Wild Turkey Foundation or Yellow Dog Fly Fishing all of which we actively support.

So well insulated, that they are cool on the hottest days, and warm on the coldest our RANGE CAMPS are truly 4-Season. The wood burning stove provides soul satisfying heat from a few “brick sized” logs, and the optional air-conditioner can chill the Camp when coupled with a small generator.

Our RANGE CAMPS have been used from the Mesquite Country of West Texas to the Salmon streams of Alaska; they have been loaded onboard ships and transported to the islands of Alaska, where they provided safe, sound sleep in Kodiak Bear country. Through the years, we have hunted and fly-fished from Texas to Alaska, spending months in Canada under all weather conditions, and we have camped in areas where we never saw another person but daily saw Grizzly Bears. The RANGE CAMP has also served as base camp in the Yukon while photographing and fishing with the solar panel and gel-batteries assuring a continuous supply of power for lighting, radio, satellite or cell phone, camera-laptop-GPS charging, as well as TV and DVD viewing.

RANGE CAMPS are in use by many U.S. Government agencies to provide comfortable, safe housing in the field for their personnel; among these agencies are:

USDA-Animal Damage Control
US Forest Service
US Dept. of Interior
US Dept of Agriculture
US Fish & Wildlife Services
BLM
As well as the Game & Fish Departments of several Western States.
