SUPPLY WAGON
SUPPLY WAGON
From its very beginning, the Sheepwagon had a companion called the Commissary or SUPPLY WAGON. Referring once again to Nancy Weidel’s excellent book, “SHEEPWAGON –Home on the Range” we read the following: “COMMISSARY OR SUPPLY WAGON. A supply wagon, also known as a commissary (and sometimes called a hooligan), was an important piece of equipment in the sheep business. Of simple utilitarian design, about ten feet long with flat sides and an open top, the supply wagon could often be seen on the trail hitched behind the sheepwagon. The wagon carried the essential water barrels, hay and other supplies needed on the range far from town. (In the early days, the herder’s only water supply was a nearby spring or stream.) Once the sheepwagon was set in place the supply wagon was unhitched and might stay at the campsite or perhaps the camptender would take it back to town.” Recognizing the utility of a SUPPLY WAGON, we early on built our own to support our outdoor activities as a companion to our RANGE CAMPS. They can carry two ATV’s, two canoes or kayaks or one raft. They have two racks for fuel or water cans. There is a side loading gate with expanded metal for traction; the gate has a spring lift for ease of raising and lowering. It has a large, tongue mounted, locking tool box. A roller bar and extendable legs assist in loading heavy canoes and rafts, the legs also provide stability when the SUPPLY WAGON is unhitched and used as a shower/toilet or sleeping quarters. A 7-foot center pole provides a 10’ X 7.5’ tent when used as shower/toilet or sleeping quarters. A rear mounted retractable step provides access to the tent. The SUPPLY WAGON is wired via the RANGE CAMP wiring harness allowing the electric brakes to activate simultaneously with the RANGE CAMP. Our SUPPLY WAGONS are built on the same frame specifications as our RANGE CAMPS: five-thousand pound axles with electric brakes (Dexter USA not Chinese), ten-thousand pound rated hitch (adjustable for height). Brake-away safety switch with battery, two safety chains, clearance lights front and back, tail lights. Tie downs for two ATV’s or other cargo. Bulldog jack-stand. 7-pin electric plug same as on RANGE CAMP. GAWR of 5400 pounds. VIN number and Title included; Built to National Association of Trailer Manufacturers standards.
