There are always better ways of doing old things if you give it enough time, lots of thought and hands-on experience.

That’s what we found out about using sheep camps in our Fly Fishing Guide business in Canada and Alaska. We started using these camps in 1986 to house our guides and clients in some very remote places that were accessed over miles of trails, gravel roads, and even by ship. The sheep camp is ideal for camping in “Hard Places,” and we have found no better equipment for our use…they are ideal.

In 1986 we bought our camps from other manufacturers, but in a few months some problems started to show up: leaks, broken welds, bad wiring, inadequate brakes, undersized bolts, bad paint, underrated axles and other major and minor problems. We repaired these items as they arose, but we began to think that a better built camp was needed if it were to become fully reliable over many years.

We are now building those much improved camps; we call them RANGE CAMPS to reflect their wider use while retaining their historical origins.

We took apart our original camps to study their construction and the materials used and learned where the problems originated. When we started building RANGE CAMPS we changed to materials and construction techniques learned in our years of shipbuilding high speed patrol boats, research vessels and yachts that are still in use worldwide.

We can now offer what is the strongest, best built RANGE CAMP on the market, at a price that is competitive with other manufacturers and they are built to specifications and materials set forth by the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers, Forestry Stewardship Council (no formaldehyde or toxic chemicals), and they bear a Title and VIN number which allows you to obtain a license plate and legally travel to other states and Canada.
